ATHLETE MISSING THEIR REGULAR TRAINING?

Hi everyone!    This is a post for mostly MS students - especially those who are missing sport's team training. And it's a shameless shout-out to my former volleyball teammate at Judson University (best middle hitter I ever set for πŸ˜†) Jen (Gentry) Salazar who now lives in California and works for In-Shape Health Clubs.   Some coaches have reached out to you for specific workouts but in case you're interested, the link below will lead you to another one.  (You will need to scroll down a bit to find the post from March 25.) # inshapeattitude Enjoy if you like! Miss you all! Praying we'll see each other yet this spring!πŸ™

BRAIN BREAK "ROOM MOVE"

Image
BRAIN BREAKS "ROOM MOVE!"  So much research has been done in favor of taking "Brain Breaks" (a.k.a. "We've been sitting and trying to focus for too long!! We can't take it anymore!!") when in comes to learning. BENEFITS INCLUDE   INCREASED BLOOD FLOW TO BRAIN & MUSCLES RE-SET IN ATTENTION  RETAINING INFORMATION POSITIVE CHANGE IN ATTITUDE  REDUCED STRESS  INCREASED COGNITIVE CREATIVITY Here is a simple activity to include in your daily schedule while distance learning. It's called "ROOM MOVE!". Here's how it works: Give yourself some space. Get ready to move! Leader will give the first "move" signal... Be ready to change the move after 15-20 seconds!  MOVE SIGNALS: - Move like you're jumping rope - Move like you're in slow motion - Move in an army crawl - Move like a bee is chasing you! - Move like you're hula-hooping - Move in a crab walk - Move like you're in a

REQUIRED P.E.???

WHAT IF I'M NOT IN MIDDLE SCHOOL P.E. RIGHT NOW? IS THIS REQUIRED? WHAT IF I ALREADY HAVE A WORK OUT ROUTINE? WE DON'T HAVE YOUTUBE Deep breath my people! If you read the beginning info on my first post (which I'm shocked... I say SHOCKED!!) that you skipped/skimmed over instead of actually reading (I know you all miss my sarcasm😜 ) you'll notice that nothing is required yet. These are suggestions and resources meant to give you a starting place if you're looking for one. Oh, and they're working at unlocking YouTube I hear... so stay tuned. MEANWHILE: It's warming up!! Yay!! Get outside this weekend and send me a pic of something (maybe unique??) that you did while you were there. I'd love to see your smiling faces! (No, this isn't "required" either... 😎) Share here or send me an email sjmiller@zcs.org

DISTANCE LEARNING "P.E. STYLE" INTRO

Image
DISTANCE LEARNING “P.E. STYLE” Hi everyone! This is quite the unexpected way to be "doing" PE to say the least! If you are like me, you might be saying something like "Hey, we can easily find ways to stay active for at least 60 minutes a day!" or "We've already included a physical activity/exercise time into our new daily routine." or "Oh no, is this just one more paper we need to file, email, or keep track of until this is over!?"😊 NEVER FEAR! At this point, there will be no reporting (again, at this point. That could change...) This is a new way of teaching for me just like its a new way of learning for your families. We're in this together and I'm sure we'll be evolving and adjusting together! I'm sure many of you have already been busy with daily activity inside or outdoors - hopefully the temperatures will start to climb so that will be able to continue! While most of us can find ways to stay on top of re
